Minutes 4/10/2003

MEMBER ATTENDANCE: Dean Koski, Michael Caffrey, Karen Kennedy, Bill Hursh, Betty Soltys, Mike Stasak and Tom Black.

Call to order: 7:40 PM by Dean Koski. Motion to open the meeting by Dean Koski, seconded by Mike Caffrey. Approved by all members.

Review and acceptance of March 2003 minutes – Motion by Mike Stasak, seconded by Karen Kennedy. Approved by all members.

7:45 – 8:10 – Crawford Park. Reviewed existing plans with suggested modifications with Hanover Engineering and Township Manager. The plans are being revised and will be forwarded to Dean Koski.

• Brickman Turf Maintenance was approached and provided a care regimen for full turf maintenance for 1 year. The Recreation Advisory Board will continue to seek alternatives.

8:10 to 8:40 – Shade at pool update –

• Concerns were raised by the Township Manager of susceptibility to vandalism of fabric shade solutions. Permanent structures were discussed.

Recommendation: The Recreation Advisory Board strongly recommends that we purchase and install a minimum of 2 of the "Wave" style artificial shade structures from Sun Ports International for the 2003 Summer swim season and budget in 2004 for a minimum of 2 additional units. In order to meet the 2003 Summer swim season, the units must be placed on order during April, 2003. Motion by Mike Caffrey, seconded by Mike Stasak. All members voted in favor.

8:40 – 8:50 – Rails To Trails Update – represented on the Recreation Advisory Board by Bill Hursh, Tom Black and Karen Kennedy.

• After conversations with Hanover Engineering, the planned pathway north of Orchard Road might not be feasible and might have to be connected north through sidewalk usage.
• Suggestion is to meet with the Airport Authority to discuss future planned walkways on or adjacent to Airport property.

8:50 to 9:30 – Pool Budget Discussions

9:50 to 9:55 - Recommendation: The Recreation Advisory Board recommends installing a barrier similar to the pedestrian/bike traffic barrier on Rt. 987 where the Nor-Bath trail crosses the highway, just north of Four O’s gold center (see attached picture). Motion Mike Stasak, seconded Betty Soltys. All members voted in favor.
