Minutes 8/14/2003

MEMBER ATTENDANCE: Bill Hursh, Karen Kennedy, Mike Stasak and Betty Soltys.

Call to order: 8:00 PM by Betty Soltys. Motion to open the meeting by Betty Soltys, seconded by Mike Stasak. Approved by all members.

Review of July 2003 minutes – Motion to approve by Karen Kennedy, seconded by Bill Hursh. Approved by all members.

8:05 to 8:50 – Recreation Director Update

A flyer will be distributed to the local schools regarding Youth and Family Programming at the Hanover Township Community Center.
A new program will be introduced this fall called Women-to-Women for networking between Township women. Meetings would include guest speakers on various topics.
A program entitled Community Hearts is being developed to organize and promote children’s activities in Hanover Township. Due to limited funding and lack of visibility in the community, a "grass roots" community involvement plan is being developed to help solicit volunteers to assist with running the program. Several fundraisers are also being planned throughout the year to help defray the costs involved.

8:50 – 9:00 – Pool Shade

Recreation Advisory Board members have received very positive feedback regarding the shade structures recently installed at the pool.
The structures are oriented with the high point facing the northwest direction in order to maximize shade during peak sun hours, specifically 10:00am until 2:00 pm.

9:00 - 9:20 – Biking/Walking Trails Update

The Hanover Township trail map has been revised by Hanover Engineering and reviewed members of the R.A.B. In the near future, the map will be shared with the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission so future development can include proposed plans.

9:20 – 9:30 – Budget Planning

A separate meeting will be scheduled for the members to discuss and prioritize items needed for the 2004 budget.

9:30 – 9:40 – Display Board for Hanover Township Parks

Mike Stasak created a display board for the 10 parks available to families in the Hanover Township area. This display board will be kept at the Community Center for informational purposes and to be used for Community Days.

9:40 to 9:45 – Crawford Park

9:40 – Motion to close the meeting by Betty Soltys, seconded by Mike Stasak. All members voted in favor.

Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2003.
