MEMBER ATTENDANCE:  Michael Caffrey, Bill Hursh, Dean Koski, Betty Soltys and Tom Black.

 

Call to order:  8:35 PM by Dean Koski.  Motion to open the meeting by Dean Koski, seconded by Bill Hursh.  Approved by all members. 

 

Review of November 2003 minutes – Motion to approve by Betty Soltys, seconded by Bill Hursh.  Approved by all members. 

 

Special Note:  The Hanover Township Recreation Advisory Board thanks Dean Koski for his invaluable leadership and outstanding community support during his tenure as a Board member and Chairman of this Board.  Dean’s keen insight and direction have helped to make Hanover Township a better place for the residents.  Thank you Dean and good luck in your future endeavors.

 

8:35 – 9:05 – Recreation Director report. 

  • No new issues, winter programming is running smoothly.
  • Holiday Tree lighting planned for 12/12. 

 

9:05 - 9:25 – RAB Vacancy. 

  • Steve Crump presented himself to the RAB for consideration to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Dean Koski at the end of December 2003.

Recommendation:  The RAB recommends Steve Crump to the Board of Supervisors to fill the vacant position on the Recreation Advisory Board.  Motion by Dean Koski, seconded by Betty Soltys.  All members voted in favor.

 

9:25 - 9:30 – Vacant Chairperson position on the RAB.

Recommendation:  The RAB recommends Betty Soltys as Chairperson for the Recreation Advisory Board.   Motion by Dean Koski, seconded by Mike Caffrey.  All members voted in favor.

 

9:30 – 10:30 – Macada North – Basketball courts. 

  • The RAB had a lengthy discussion regarding the future of basketball courts at Macada North Park in addition to many, other pending recreation needs of the community.   It is the RAB’s objective to be thoughtful and strategic in all of its recommendations that best serve the community at large.

 

 

 

 

 

Recommendation:  The RAB has reservations using a survey as a decision-making tool. The survey should be used strictly for informational purposes only.  After the RAB receives and tabulates the survey results, recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors.  The survey must include the note indicating that the survey will be used only as a guideline.  The survey should be sent at a minimum to all residents north of Macada Road, south of Route 22, East of Jacksonville Road and West of the Monocacy Creek.  At a maximum, it should also include the area North of Bridle Path Road, South of Route 22, East of Jacksonville Road and West of the Monocacy Creek.   Motion by Dean Koski, seconded by Betty Soltys.  All members voted in favor.
