Minutes 1/12/06

 

MEMBER ATTENDANCE:  Betty Soltys, Karen Kennedy, Bob Roll, Alex Sahaydak, and Steve Crump

 

7:30 PM:        Call to Order:  by Karen Kennedy, seconded by Alex Sahaydak.  Approved by all members.

 

Review and approval of minutes from December 2005:  Motion to approve by Alex Sayahdak, seconded by Bob Roll.  Approved by all members.

 

7:35:  New Board member:  The Recreation Advisory Board welcomes Emil Giordano as a new Board member.

 

7:40:­   HTCC Director’s Report:

·        Games of Chance were approved for Hanover Township.  Beginning in February, 2006, Bingo Games will be held at the Community Center.  Details will be forthcoming.

 

7:55:   Update on Municipal and Crawford Parks:

·        Betty Soltys met with Jay Finnigan, along with Shade Tree Commission members, Joan Witiak and Dan Roman regarding the planting of trees at Crawford Park.  It was decided that trees will be planted at the following locations:

o       north and east corridor of the parking lot on Harriet Lane         

o       north side of the building

o       at each berm located within the entrance of the parking lot

o       northern perimeter of the park. 

 

Weather permitting; the trees should be planted by early Spring, 2006.

Additionally, a fence will be installed along the parking lot to help deter vandalism.  

 

·        There were recent incidences of vandalism that occurred at the Municipal Park.  Most of the damage occurred on the new slide recently installed at the pool.  The Township and Colonial Regional Police are aware of the acts and an investigation is underway.    

 

 

 

 

 

8:25:  Review of Long Range Plan:

 

·        Recreation Advisory Board Mission Statement:

A mission statement for the Recreation Advisory Board needs updating.  Several ideas were discussed.  Board Members will work throughout the month and will develop and vote on a revised statement by February 2006. 

 

·        The Open Space plan for Hanover Township’s parks was reorganized and prioritized based on safety needs and the needs of the community. 

 

9:35 PM – Other Matters:

·        The Recreation Advisory Board would like to express their appreciation to Bill Hursh for his dedicated contribution to the Board.  Most especially, we thank Bill for the time and involvement spent on the implementation of the Township’s walking/bike path.

 

·        A resident of Hanover Crossings North inquired about the dedication date of the park that is to be developed in that area.  Per Jay Finnigan, the developer recently asked for a delay, and therefore the dedication of this park is postponed until mid - 2007.
