7:50 to 8:30 – RAB Chairperson Update

  • Betty would like us to continue to improve communication between the Township Manager, Board of Supervisors, Shade Tree Commission and Special Events Committee.   Betty plans to contact each affiliate after RAB meetings in order to review with them our meeting information.
  • Jay Finnigan is considering forming a sub committee to plan for the future of recreational facilities and programs over the next 15 years.  He would like 2 individuals from the RAB to volunteer for this committee.  Anyone interested should first speak to Betty.

8:30 to 9:45 – Recreation Director Update

  • Cathy and Kylene provided a Year End Summary as well as a Year End Pool Report for 2003.
  • The RAB discussed with Cathy the currently scheduled opening for the summer 2004 pool and parks programs.  In the past, the BASD school year was completed during the third week of June, which coincided with the opening date for the pool and parks.  This year, the BASD superintendent revised the school calendar to reflect a tentative end date during the first week of June.  We feel that opening date for the pool and parks program should coincide with this change, if only on a modified schedule.  We are concerned that people will choose other public pools in the area, and thus take away from potential revenue and participation in Township activities.  The RAB plans to further review this with the BOS.
  • A 2004 goal of Cathy’s is to encourage RAB members to be more aware and get more involved with the Community Center functions and activities.  This, she hopes, will provide better communication and information to our township residents.

9:45 – 10:20 – Informal Discussion with Frank Colon, member of BOS

  • Discussed revising the opening day schedule for parks and the swimming pool
  • Reviewed the Macada North survey regarding the recent request for basketball courts.  The responses are expected to be returned no later than 1/15/04.

10:20  - RAB goals for 2004 to be reviewed at next month’s meeting

10:25 - Motion to close the meeting by Mike Stasak, seconded by Karen Kennedy.  All members voted in favor.

Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, February November 12, 2004.
