Minutes 07/14/05

MEMBER ATTENDANCE:  Betty Soltys, Karen Kennedy, Steve Crump, Mike Stasak,  Bob Roll, Alex Sahaydak and Bill Hursh.

Call to order:  7:40 PM by Betty Soltys.  Motion to open the meeting by Betty

Soltys, seconded by Steve Crump.  Approved by all members.

7:40:    HTCC Director’s Report:

·        Pool membership:  The current pool memberships are 25% higher than those from 2004.

·        Theme week:  Camp participation is down 13% from 2004, but consistent with the totals from 2003.  This figure may still be incomplete due to camp programs continuing throughout the summer.

8:00:    Village View Park:

·        Jay Finnigan has requested a survey be taken of the area surrounding the Village View Park to determine current demographics.  He has received reports from residents indicating a turn over - younger families are moving in, older residents are caring for grandchildren, etc.  These residents are requesting updated playground structures. The RAB will review the situation.

8:15:    Playgrounds – Crawford, College Heights, and Delta Manor:

·        Karen and Mike met with representatives from two Playground companies who visited the parks.  They provided us with catalogs, sketches, and suggestions.  Mike also received catalogs from a third vendor.  The information from all three vendors was reviewed with the RAB.  We will now request formal bids to review and present to the Board of Supervisors.

9:00:    Park Reports:

·        Alex reported that the grass at Crawford field is not growing, there are many rocks, and the field overall does not appear to be playable.

·        Approximately 14 pear trees along the bike path appear to be damaged.  A call was made to Joan Witiak of the Shade Tree Commission and she confirmed that the trees have been attacked by Japanese beetles.  Although they look diseased now, they are not permanently damaged.

9:20      Motion to adjourn meeting by Betty Soltys.  Seconded by Bob Roll.    All members voted in favor.

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2005.
