Call to order: 7:40 PM by Betty Soltys. Motion to open the
meeting by Bill Hursh, seconded by Mike Stasak. Approved by all members.
Review of June 2004 minutes – Motion to approve by Bill
Hursh, seconded by Mike Stasak. Approved by all members.
7:40 to 7:45
– Candidate for open position on the Recreation Advisory Board (RAB).
- Alex
Sahhaydak, a resident of the Township for,
presented himself to the RAB for potential appointment to the Board.
7:50 to 8:25
– RAB Chairperson Update
- Crawford
Park Update.
- The
split rail fence has been installed at Crawford
Park. The RAB unanimously agreed that it is
very attractive and was tastefully done.
- Tomilson and Bomberger will
begin turf repair on the upper field at Crawford
Park and should will complete
renovations and begin re-seeding by mid-August. This field should be in playing
condition for fall 2005.
Recommendation: The RAB
recommends that, in light of the upper field being playable in Fall of 2005, then reconditioning of the lower field should
begin as soon as possible upon the opening of the upper field. All members voted in favor.
8:40 to 9:30
– Recreation Director Report
- Field
usage costs need to be addressed.
- Long
term swim facilities need to be addressed.

9:30 to 9:55
– Park Tour – Immediate Needs
- Municipal Park –
- Recommendation - The RAB recommends the installation of a seasonal
port-o-potty in the pavilion area during daylight savings, beginning with
the 2005 season, for easier access for park users and during off-hours
when the Community Center is closed. All members voted in favor.
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends moving 1 bike rack currently at
the pool area to the pavilion/tennis court area. All members voted in favor.
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends re-painting the fence around
the municipal pool. All members
voted in favor.
- Pharo Park –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends opening the end of Gaspar Avenue as parking for Pharo Park. This is the third
request. All members voted in
favor.
- Westgate Park –
- Troxell Park –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends leaving the picnic table and
trash can, currently used by the summer park program, after the
completion of the summer program.
All members voted in favor.
- Delta Manor –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends that the Township immediately
address low hanging wires at the park that are reachable from the bench
at the park. All members voted in
favor.
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends the removal of the climbing
dome and bouncy toys and installing a play structure (similar to the
structure at Pharo Park). All members voted in favor.
- College Heights –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends the removal of the following
pieces of equipment: climbing
dome, two deteriorated benches, swing sets. The RAB also recommends the installation
of the following pieces of equipment:
Play structure (similar to the unit at Pharo Park), 4 bay swing set and a 2 bay toddler swing set. All members voted in favor.
- Birchwood Park –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends installing 3 sitting benches
throughout the park area. All
members voted in favor.
- Macada North –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends the replacement of one tree
that appears to have died. All
members voted in favor.
- Village View –
- Recommendation – The RAB recommends the removal of the following
pieces of equipment: the climbing
dome, swing sets, basketball pole/backboard. Replacement equipment/usages will be
addressed in long range plans. All
members voted in favor.

areas to be supported by the following members: Community Center – Mike
Caffrey, Pool – Betty Soltys,
Parks – Mike Stasak, Fields – Steve
Crump and Hike/Bike Trails – Bill Hursh.
