Minutes 11/13/2003

MEMBER ATTENDANCE: Karen Kennedy, Michael Caffrey, Bill Hursh, Mike Stasak and Tom Black.

Call to order: 7:35 PM by Mike Caffrey. Motion to open the meeting by Mike Caffrey, seconded by Karen Kennedy. Approved by all members.

Review of October 2003 minutes – Motion to approve by Mike Stasak, seconded by Bill Hursh. Approved by all members.

7:40 to 7:50 – Crawford Park.

• Township Manager has requested the RAB seeks 3 bids for over-seeding Crawford fields.
• The RAB needs to identify the type of equipment to put in the tot-lot at Crawford.
• Construction of building at Crawford Park is proceeding.

7:50 – 8:15 – Recreation Director report.

• Space in the Community Center is becoming very limited. Future expansion might be necessary.
• Discussions with the Township Manager have been progressing regarding future aquatic facilities.
• The RAB will open conversations with the Township Manager and the Recreation Director to identify the direction and purpose of the future aquatic facilities in Hanover Township.

8:15 – 9:15 – Macada North – Basketball courts.

• Township residents from the Macada North development attended the meeting and are requesting a basketball court be installed at the Macada North Park.

Recommendation: The RAB recommends will poll the entire Macada North development regarding the feasibility of installing, or not installing, a basketball court at the Macada North Park based on letters received and presented in person from residents of the Macada North community at the RAB 11/13/2003 meeting (see attached letters). Motion by Mike Stasak, seconded by Mike Caffrey.

9:15 - 9:25 – Shade Tree Vandalism.

• Although the loss of trees is unfortunate, the RAB continues to support the installation of trees in public recreation areas to the benefit of the residents.

9:25 - 9:30 – Biking/Walking Trails Update

• Based on further discussion, the East Allen Township planning committee is investigating the creation of a trail under Rt. 987 along the existing gas pipeline right of way. Then create plans to add a trail from the Rt. 987 underpass to Bicentennial Park access to the Rails to Trails.

9:30 to 9:55 – Park Updates

10:00 – Motion to close the meeting by Mike Caffrey, seconded by Karen Kennedy. All members voted in favor.
