MEMBER ATTENDANCE: Michael Caffrey, Bill Hursh, Betty Soltys, and, Mike Stasak.

Call to order: 8:05 PM by Michael Caffrey.

Review and acceptance of 9/12/2002 minutes – Motion by Mike Stasak, seconded by Bill Hursh. Approved by all members.

8:10 – 8:15 – Upcoming Community Center Events.

• Holiday Tree Lighting – Dec. 7 @ 3:30.
• Historic Bethlehem presentation, Dec. 10^th @ 7:00PM.
• Carmike Theater days, Dec. 11 & Dec. 15. Buy movie tickets at HTCC and get free soda and popcorn.

Recommendation: The Recreation Advisory Board would like the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission to plan for the addition of a walking/biking trail from Stoke Park Road to Orchard Road as the land east of Schoenersville Road and Airport Road is developed. Motion by Bill Hursh, seconded by Mike Caffrey. All members voted in favor.

8:15 – 8:20 – Saturday, 11/9 - Hanover 5K run was a great success and well attended. Received very good responses from participants and spectators.

8:20 – 8:25 – Sunday, 11/24 – A 5K run will be held as a benefit for cancer patient Kathy Luckenbach.

8:25 to 8:55 – Park Updates

• Delta Manor – Tom Black.
• Municipal Park – Mike Stasak
• Skateboarders are stacking picnic tables under the pavilion to use for ramps and grinding. Signs are posted, but ineffective. Property is being mutilated and safety is a concern.
• Merry go round should be fitted with a speed control device or removed.
• Village View – Mike Stasak
• No new issues.
• Troxell – Bill Hursh
• No new issues.
• Crawford – Dean Koski
• No new issues.
• College Heights – Mary Ellen O’Connell
• Westgate – Betty Soltys
• No new issues.
• Pharo – Mike Caffrey

Recommendation: In an effort to improve pedestrian safety on Kim Street, it is recommended to provide parking at Pharo Park by keeping the existing barriers on Gaspar Avenue, but allow parking beyond the barriers by removing the chains to encourage off-street parking. Motion by Mike Caffrey, seconded by Betty Soltys. All members voted in favor.

• Birchwood – Mike Caffrey
• Some trees could be added to the tree line in Birchwood.
• Macada North – Mary Ellen O’Connell

8:55 to 9:15 – Other issues.

• Shade tree committee is requesting we consider some areas to plant trees. Suggestions are Troxell Park, Birchwood Park (in the existing tree line), and possibly Municipal Park. Crawford Park on the south parking lot, on the inside edge. The Shade Tree commission should attend the next Recreation Advisory Board meeting for planning.

• The new 2003 budget is available for reviewing in the Municipal building.
• Recreation Advisory Board members are requested to seek nominations for the Board seat expected to be vacated in January 2003.

9:40– Motion to close the meeting by Betty Soltys, seconded by Mike Stasak. All members voted in favor.
