Minutes 11/14/2002

MEMBER ATTENDANCE: Michael Caffrey, Bill Hursh, Betty Soltys, and, Mike Stasak.

Call to order: 8:05 PM by Michael Caffrey.

Review and acceptance of 9/12/2002 minutes – Motion by Mike Stasak, seconded by Bill Hursh. Approved by all members.

8:10 – 8:15 – Upcoming Community Center Events.

Recommendation: The Recreation Advisory Board would like the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission to plan for the addition of a walking/biking trail from Stoke Park Road to Orchard Road as the land east of Schoenersville Road and Airport Road is developed. Motion by Bill Hursh, seconded by Mike Caffrey. All members voted in favor.

8:15 – 8:20 – Saturday, 11/9 - Hanover 5K run was a great success and well attended. Received very good responses from participants and spectators.

8:20 – 8:25 – Sunday, 11/24 – A 5K run will be held as a benefit for cancer patient Kathy Luckenbach.

8:25 to 8:55 – Park Updates

Recommendation: In an effort to improve pedestrian safety on Kim Street, it is recommended to provide parking at Pharo Park by keeping the existing barriers on Gaspar Avenue, but allow parking beyond the barriers by removing the chains to encourage off-street parking. Motion by Mike Caffrey, seconded by Betty Soltys. All members voted in favor.

8:55 to 9:15 – Other issues.

9:40– Motion to close the meeting by Betty Soltys, seconded by Mike Stasak. All members voted in favor.
