MINUTES 1/16/02
Members Present - Natalie Miller, Michelle Mill, Debbie Marshall, Susan Lavelle, Irv Good, and Mary McCornac
Called to order: 7:30 p.m. by Natalie Miller
Reviewed letter from N. James Sterner in response to the minutes of the first meeting of the Special Events Committee for 2001.
7:45 - Voted on the board for the 2002 committee:
Natalie Miller was nominated as Chairman by Susan Lavelle and it was seconded by Debbie Marshall and was affirmed by all others present.
Susan Lavelle was nominated as Vice Chair by Natalie Miller and it was seconded by Michelle Mill and was affirmed by all others present.
Mary McCornac was nominated by Natalie Miller as Secretary and was seconded by Debbie Marshall and was affirmed by all others present.
Michelle Mill was nominated as Chief Fundraiser by Natalie Miller and it was seconded by Susan Lavelle and was affirmed by all others present.
7:50 - Opened a discussion regarding holding a few special events per year. Events discussed were possibly the John Phillip Sousa Concert which is now being done by the Community Center. Also discussed was a possible Easter Egg Hunt, Outdoor Movie Night, Community Days Festival, Halloween Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting.
8:35 - Made decision to hold a Community Days Festival over Memorial Day weekend, A Halloween Parade most likely on 10/26/02 and a Christmas Tree Lighting.
Votes were taken regarding the above events and all members voted yea.
The date for the Christmas Tree Lightning was put on hold in order to check the date of the Moravian Church’s lighting so as not to interfere with their plans.
Also discussed having a movie night and Dip n’ Dance during Community Days Festival.
Had discussion as to having someone donate a Christmas tree and lights for the tree lighting as well as to researching where we could put the tree on the Community property. Also discussed a possible luminary night in conjunction with the lighting.
Irv Good provided members with a list of people he felt would help out. Mary McCornac agreed to send a letter to these people thanking them for their help in the past and seeking their help again this year.
9:10 - It was suggested that we send letters to all members of the community to inform them of events being planned and to possibly raise additional funds.
