HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION

                        MINUTES -  MEETING, APRIL 25, 2005, 6:30 PM

IN ATTENDANCE:   Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Dave Zakeski, Susan Scholl, Linda Taylor

GUEST:   Stanley Burns

Joan welcomed Stanley Burns, an arborist living in Lower Nazareth Township, to the monthly meeting.  He stated that he would like to contribute to the "health and well-being" of the township trees, and gave STAC some information on the "pros and cons" of planting different varieties of trees.

1.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 28, 2005:   Linda Taylor initiated the motion to approve, with Dan Roman as second.  All were in favor.

2. REVIEW PERMITS:             Susan Scholl reported the residents who had planted trees properly, and in a timely manner.  Various resident addresses were discussed, with regard to ongoing issues.   Susan presented a planting diagram for the St. Francis Retreat property for review.  We will check the overhead wire location with regard to the size of trees.

3.                  PARK TREE PLANTING:  Park tree locations for the '05-'06 planting were discussed.  Joan will check with the P and R Board on any updated plans for Troxell Park before recommendations are made.

4.  WATERING BIDS:            Dave Zakeski has not received any watering bids as of this writing.  Deadline for bids is May 1.

5.  OLD/NEW BUSINESS:

Susan Scholl observed that at least 20 street trees are dead in the DeLuca development by Wegman's supermarket.  Joan will check to see if these can be replaced now rather than waiting until the end of the Maintenance period.

We will meet at Pointe North Park on May 9th to inspect the Patriot Bank trees planted in several locations to determine which need to be replaced.  Also, a number of trees in Westgate Park look bad and will be checked on this tree walk.

NEXT MEETING:  Moved to Wednesday, June 1, 6:30 p.m., due to the Memorial Day Holiday.

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Taylor, Secretary
