Hanover Township Shade Tree Commission Meeting

December 17, 2001

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18017 at 6:30 P.M.

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Jeff Waldron, Daniel Roman, and guest David Zakeski. Absent was Susan Gibisser.

1. Upon motion of Daniel Roman, seconded by Jeff Waldron, the Commission approved the agenda.

Upon motion of Jeff Waldron, seconded by Joan Witiak, the Commission approved the minutes from the meeting of the Shade Tree Commission dated November 19, 2001.

2. Tree bid list for spring planting:

The requests for cost bid estimates for approximately 21 trees must be sent out in January to facilitate an early spring planting. Thirty-three new trees were planted in our parks on December 10 and 11.

3. Spring mulching bids:

Request for bids for mulching the park trees will go out in January or early February. Jeff Waldron will get a tree count for Westgate and Macada North parks. Dan Roman will get the count for Point North, Municipal, and Delta Manor parks. Joan Witiak will get the count for Troxell. Also, twenty-six evergreens will need to be fertilized.

4. Review permits:

There are no additional permits to review.

5. Review tree list:

The list of approved street trees is being updated. This list and the SALDO list should be compatible.

6. New business:

1. A letter will be sent to the Hanover Township Fire Department thanking them for their help with watering the newly planted park trees this past summer.
2. The recommendation of an increase in the percentage of large deciduous trees for landscape requirements is being contemplated.

The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
