HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING

 

February 27, 2006

 

 

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017, at 6:30 PM.

 

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Susan Scholl, and Daniel Roman.

 

1.      Upon motion of Daniel Roman, seconded by Susan Scholl, the minutes of the January 30, 2006, STAC meeting were approved.

 

2.      Review Permits:  Reminders will be sent to those residents whose permits will expire in April and May of this year.

 

3.      Park Tree Planting:  Fifty-one trees were planted in Crawford and Municipal parks last week.  A big thank you goes to Daniel Roman who oversaw this project.

 

4.      Mulching Bids:  Bid requests were sent out by David Zakeski.  One bid has been received.  The deadline is March 15^th.

 

5.      Watering Bids:  The fifty-one newly planted park trees will have to be watered if we have drought conditions this summer.  Since we received no responses to our bid requests for watering last year, Joan Witiak will discuss the issue with the Township Manager.

 

6.      Pruning:  The young park trees will need to be assessed and pruned where necessary to insure healthy, strong growth.  We will try to have pruning done by a certified arborist in groups of trees.   This will also be discussed with the Township Manager.

 

7.      Review LVCC I, Lot 2:  The trees to be moved will have to be watched for several years to be sure they don’t die.  The tree protection fences must be shown at the drip line, not the trunk.

 

Review Faulkner Saab, Cadillac:  There was no landscape plan submitted.

 

Review Becker Minor Subdivision:  The trees to be removed must be listed and replaced. 

 

8.      Old Business/New Business:  None

 

Next meeting is March 27, 2006.
