Hanover Township Shade Tree Commission Meeting

January 21, 2002

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18017 at 6:30 P.M.

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Jeff Waldron, and Daniel Roman. Absent was David Zakeski.

1. Upon motion of Daniel Roman, seconded by Jeff Waldron, the Commission approved the agenda.

Upon motion of Jeff Waldron, seconded by Daniel Roman, the Commission approved the minutes from the meeting of the Shade Tree Commission dated December 17, 2001.

2. Tree bid list for spring planting:

The request for bids was sent out in early January to four nurseries for approximately 27 trees. Twenty-six are for the Municipal Park and one is a replacement in Point North Park.

3. Spring mulching bids:

A request for bids for mulching the park trees will be put together by Jeff Waldron. Three hundred and eighty five trees in the parks need mulching and weed control.

4. Review tree list:

Dan Roman will discuss the tree list with Julianne Schieffer of PSU on March 26, 2002.

5. Hanover Glen:

The plan did not specify what varieties of trees will be planted. We will request a more specific list.

6. New business:Joan Witiak will get copies of other townships’ tree ordinances for comparison.
