HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING

January 26, 2004

 

 

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, PA   18017.

 

In attendance were: Susan Scholl, Linda Taylor, Joan Witiak, and Dave Zakeski

 

1.      Upon the motion of Linda Taylor, seconded by Dave Zakeski, the commission approved the minutes from the meeting of the STAC dated December 29, 2003.

 

2.      Discuss Permits:  Reminders to return permits will be sent out closer to spring.

 

3.      Discuss Early Spring Park Tree Planting:  Because of the weather this project is on hold. 

 

4.      Discuss Spring Mulching:  Susan Scholl reported that requests for cost estimates for the 2004 park tree mulching project have been sent to six landscape firms.  No replies have been received yet.

 

5.      Discuss Jaindl  - IDI 1 Lot PIBD Subdivision:  There were numerous problems with the landscape plan with regard to listing of trees and tree varieties.  The plan was very difficult to read because of the contour lines and small scale.

 

6.      New Business:  Natalie Miller from the Community Relations Committee presented a request for two trees for Asa Packer and Hanover Elementary Schools to celebrate Earth Day.  The STAC agreed to provide the trees and will research the proper variety for the location at each school.  The tree for the front of the Community Center, provided by Bennigan’s, will be planted in coordination with the Earth Day celebration.

 

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
