HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING

 

January 30, 2006

 

 

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017, at 6:30 PM.

 

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Susan Scholl, David Zakeski, and Frank Colon.

 

1.      Upon motion of Susan Scholl, seconded by Joan Witiak, the minutes of the November 30, 2005, STAC meeting were approved.

 

2.      Review Permits:  Reminders will be sent to those residents who have not returned their permits.

 

3.      Park Tree Planting:  Locations have been approved for trees in the area of the new building at Crawford Park.  As soon as the weather conditions are right, 50 new park trees will be planted.  The ground is still too soft for heavy equipment. 

 

4.      Mulching Bids:  Dave Zakeski will send out bid requests for mulching park trees.

 

5.      Watering Bids:  No responses were received last year to our request for watering park trees in drought conditions.   

 

6.      Pruning:  The young park trees will need to be assessed and pruned where necessary to insure healthy, strong growth.  We will try to have pruning done by a certified arborist in groups of trees.

 

7.      Old Business/New Business:  Dan Roman, Joan Witiak, and Betty Soltys (Recreation Advisory Commission) met with Jay Finnigan in January to assess areas for more trees.      

 

Next meeting is February 27, 2006.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
