Hanover Township Shade Tree Advisory Commission Meeting
June 30, 2003
The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem PA 18017.
In attendance were: Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Dave Zakeski, Susan Scholl, and Frank Colon.
1. Upon the motion of Joan Witiak, seconded by Dave Zakeski, the minutes of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission dated May 19, 2003 were approved with the following addition. The Dawn Redwood tree donated to the Municipal Park by Daniel Roman had been vandalized.
2. Discuss Hanover Pointe: It was noted that the existing trees were not listed on the plans and replacements for trees to be removed were not listed. Also, each street must have a minimum of three varieties of trees, including Macada Rd and Jacksonville Rd.
3. Discuss Permits: Expired permit locations will be checked for replacement trees. Those not in compliance will be turned over to the Township for further action, along with several residents who have not returned permits.
4. Discuss Park Tree Planting: Dan Roman had a map of the area where the 65 trees donated by Patriot Bank will be planted in the fall.
A late fall/winter park tree planting program will be planned when we get a list of available trees from nurseries.
5. Discuss Landscape Requirements/Woodlands Ordinance: A response to the letter from Hanover Engineering Assoc. was written and will be given to the Planning Commission and Supervisors.
6. New Business:
Frank Colon asked that we work with the Public Works Dept in getting a tree for the Community Center.
Frank Colon asked us for input on open space and tree areas for the upcoming revision of the Comprehensive Plan.
Frank Colon instructed us to let the Township Manager know when the park trees need watering.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
David `Zakeski
