HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION

 

MINUTES FROM THE MEETING ON MARCH 28, 2005, 6:30 PM

 

 

 

The Meeting was held at the Hanover Township Community Center.

IN ATTENDANCE:   Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Susan Scholl, Dave Zakeski, Linda Taylor

 

 

1.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES:   Minutes from March 3, 2005 meeting were approved unanimously.

 

2. REVIEW PERMITS:   Expiring permits will be checked.  Permit notices will be sent to residents with dead or removed street trees. 

 

3.  PARK TREE PLANTING:    Root’s Nursery was awarded the bid for the winter '04 - '05 planting, but the weather was too wet and conditions not favorable for planting.  This planting will be done in the fall ‘05.  Discussion about plans for planting next winter, '05 - '06, as well as location for new trees.  Several tentative locations were suggested: 1) area on Stoke Park, across from Steak and Ale, 2) Merrivale Plane, 3)  Troxell Park   

 

4. MULCHING/WATERING BIDS:   Chris's Lawn Service was awarded the bid for park tree mulching.    Decision was made to send out bids for watering 80 trees in 3 different areas in case of drought conditions this summer.  Dave will send out bid requests, stating they must be returned by May 1. 

 

5. TREE PROTECTION FENCE ISSUES:   All tree protection fences are down at the Weis Market construction site.  This will be addressed by the Hanover Township Ordinance Officer. 

 

6. OLD/NEW BUSINESS:   April 15 is deadline for Hanoverview articles.

Several street trees have been topped, which is harmful and in violation of the Township Ordinance.  Letters will be sent to residents.
