HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING

May 30, 2007

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017, at 6:30 PM.

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Daniel Roman, Susan Scholl, Linda Taylor, David Zakeski, and Frank Colon.

1.      Upon motion of Susan Scholl, seconded by Dan Roman, the minutes of the April 30, 2007, STAC meeting were approved.

2.      Review Permits:  Susan Scholl reviewed the new permits submitted, permits sent, expired permits, and the permits requiring Township action.

3.      Park Tree Planting:  Dan Roman reported on the planting in the area to the west of Green Briar Drive.  A fall planting will be done in two parks.  A listing of tree placements and varieties will be made in the parks.

4.      Review

LVIP IV Lot 46 – DBSI Expansion:  No landscape calculation or planting details were shown on the plan.

Tree Protection Fence should be shown around the trees on the east side of the existing building.  Additional Tree Protection Fence may be needed around other existing trees depending on the movement of construction vehicles and equipment.

Traditions of America - Bridle Path:  No Tree Protection Fence is shown around existing trees.

Evergreen trees should not be planted under existing deciduous trees.

If existing trees are removed at Bridle Path and Jacksonville Rds., they must be replaced.

5.      Old/New Business:

Tree protection fencing has been violated at Traditions of America on Hanoverville Rd.  It is imperative that the fencing remains intact and is checked.  The removal or violation of tree protection fence unfortunately is a common occurrence and is deadly to trees that are to be saved.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.

The next meeting will be on Monday, June 25, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Taylor
