Hanover Township Shade Tree Commission Meeting
July 23, 2001
The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18017 at 6:30 P.M.
In attendance were Joan Witiak, Daniel Roman, Jeff Waldron, Susan Gibisser and guest David Zakeski.
Upon motion of Jeff Waldron, seconded by Daniel Roman, the Commission approved the agenda.
1. Upon motion of Jeff Waldron, seconded by Joan Witiak, the Commission approved the minutes from the meeting of the Shade Tree Commission dated June 18, 2001.
2. Park tree planting and replacement. We reviewed the changes requested by Jim Sterner in the municipal park tree planting proposal. No changes were made to the other parks. The marked up prints are waiting for the supervisors’ approval.
3. Bids for the new trees. Approximately 60 trees are required. A listing of type and quantity of trees will be sent out to nurseries as soon as the plans are approved.
4. Review Plans
Gateway Office Plaza: Great plan Brith Sholom Community Center: Requested a list of trees to be removed and a list of the replacement trees for planting on the property or donation to the Township Holiday Inn Lot 3, Uplands Office Park: Requested substitute varieties for the 9 Sunset red maples shown on plan
Wawa Land Dev./LVCC Phase II, Lot 2: Requested red oak trees as substitutes for the 4 October Glory red maples shown on plan5. Review Permits. We reviewed the expired permits. Of the 8 expired permits, 4 have been planted and closed, 3 have not been planted, and 1 is waiting for the landscaper to plant the tree. Joan Witiak will discuss with Jim Sterner what action we can take when the permits expire with no new tree.
6. New Business
a. The permit form will be redone. The present form requires information that is confusing to residents and not necessary.
b. Park tree maintenance list. Some time ago, a list of requested maintenance items was sent to the Township. These items were noted during our park survey last fall. Dan Roman, Jeff Waldron, and Dave Zakeski will check if the items are completed.
