HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING
October 25, 2004
The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017
In attendance were Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Dave Zakeski, and Susan Scholl.
1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Upon the motion of Dan Roman, seconded by Susan Scholl, the commission approved the minutes of the STAC meeting on September 30, 2004.
2. PERMITS: Discussed status of outstanding permits. Members reported on expiring permits and newly planted trees. Still some problems with residents that moved without replacing dead trees.
3. PARK TREE PLANTING: Dan Roman will be sending out bids in the next two weeks for a park planting project in November or December.
On the walk with arborist Glen Myster, it was discovered that many red oak trees in Pointe North Park had borer marks on the trunk. These trees will be watched.
4. REVIEW VALLEY VIEW ESTATES: The prior problems with the plan were corrected. However, we do not approve of planting replacement trees on private property. Also, some species of trees are not recommended .
5. OLD/NEW BUSINESS:
A resident requested that trees be planted on Township land west of Hanover Crossing.
A request was made for trees at the new building in Pointe North Park.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 29th, at 6:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Witiak for Linda Taylor
