HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION

October 27, 2003

 

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hanover Township Municipal building, 3630 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, PA   18017.

 

In attendance were: Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Dave Zakeski, and Linda Taylor

 

1.      Upon the motion of Linda Taylor, seconded by Dan Roman, the commission approved the minutes from the meeting of STAC dated September 29, 2003.

 

2.      Report on LVCC, Phase II, Lot 3:   Landscaping for this development was done well.  Recommended replacing the honey locusts with oaks.

 

      Report on Faulkner Subaru:  Plan submission was incomplete and lacked several features.

 

3.      Discuss Permits:  Several residents have not returned permits after notification.

 

4.      Discuss Park Tree Planting:  Patriot Bank.  The township will be receiving 78+ trees from Patriot Bank, which will be used for planting off of Stoke Park Road and in Pointe North Park. 

 

Discussion about spring planting in other parks, and prints drawn up for approval. 

 

5.      New Business:  STAC discussed removing all Callery pear trees from the Township Approved Tree List and the list in SALDO because of splitting and lack of sturdiness in wind storms.  Upon the motion of Joan Witiak, seconded by Dan Roman, STAC approved removing Callery pear trees from the approved lists.   Recommendation will be sent to the Supervisors.

 

There was vandalism to new trees planted in Troxell, Macada North, and Westgate parks.  A letter will be sent to the Recreational Advisory Board discussing this issue. 

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
