HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING

 

October 29, 2007

 

 

The monthly meeting of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission was held at the Hanover Township Municipal Building, 3630 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017, at 6:30 PM.

 

In attendance were Joan Witiak, Daniel Roman, Susan Scholl, and David Zakeski.

 

 

1.      Upon motion of Dan Roman, seconded by Susan Scholl, the minutes of the September 24, 2007, STAC meeting were approved.

 

2.      Review Permits:  Susan Scholl reported on new trees that have been planted, properties that still need trees, and new permits submitted.  Topped street trees were noted on two properties; further action will be taken.

 

3.      Park Tree Planting Update:  Dan Roman reported that four new replacement trees were planted in Crawford Park by the Township Public Works Department.  We thank them for a job well done.  

 

4.      Review LVCC II, Lot 5-6:  Several issues concerning buffer trees and parking lot trees were discussed.

 

5.      Old/New Business: 

            A discussion was held concerning the DeWire Estates trees that were marked and viewed by the Shade Tree Commission, Hanover Engineering, and the developer.

            The tree line to the east of the H. T. Community Center was again discussed; it contains very large, healthy trees that should be preserved.

            We thank the H. T. Public Works Department who watered the trees planted in the spring of 2007 during the drought in early October. 

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:12 p.m.

 

The next meeting will be on Monday, November 26, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.
