HANOVER TOWNSHIP SHADE TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION

MINUTES, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2006

6:30 P.M.

 

IN ATTENDANCE:  Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Susan Scholl, Linda Taylor, and Frank Colon.

 

 

1.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Minutes from August 7, 2006, approved with a motion by Linda Taylor and second by Susan Scholl second.

 

2.  REVIEW PERMITS:  Discussion about outstanding permits and problem cases.

 

3.  PRUNING:  Discussion about various township parks where tree pruning is needed.  This is the optimal time to prune these young trees to promote healthy, strong growth.

 

4.  FALL TREE PLANTING:  An observational walk in four parks is scheduled for September 11th at 4 p.m. to list sites for a fall tree planting.  Bid request is ready to be sent out for the park tree replacements and new plantings.

 

5.      REVIEW PNC BANK:  No changes noted.

                      LVIP IV, Lot 12:  No changes noted.

 

6.  DISCUSS 2007 BUDGET:  The items to be included were noted.  Costs will be researched for the 2007 budget.

 

6.      OLD/NEW BUSINESS: 

Frank Colon noted that several trees were removed for the improvements at the intersection of Macada and Jacksonville Rds.  We will look into replacement of these trees by the Township.

 

RCN is laying lines in areas of Pointe North.  We will try to determine if they are trenching or tunneling for the lines and if this will impact the root system of the street trees.

 

 

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 25, 2006.
