Monday, September 30, 2004 - Minutes

 

6:30 P.M.

 

IN ATTENDANCE:  Joan Witiak, Dan Roman, Susan Scholl, Dave Zakeski, Linda Taylor

 

GUEST:  Glenn Myster

 

1.  APPROVE MINUTES OF AUGUST 30, 2004 – Upon the motion of  Linda Taylor, seconded by Dan Roman, the minutes of the STAC meeting on August 30, 2004, were approved as written.

 

2.  PERMITS - Joan distributed permit lists.  Discussion followed about lists.

 

3.  PARK TREE PLANTING - Dan will look at maps of parks to determine the best types of trees for the areas involved.  Members of STAC reviewed tree lists to determine best trees for different areas.  A total of 80 trees were selected for planting in the next year.  A few of the Patriot Bank trees planted in Pointe North park are still leaning and will have to be replaced if not corrected. 

 

4.  REVIEW DAVIS SUBDIVISION – There are 66 trees to be removed and replaced.  Varieties of replacement trees must be listed on the plan.  There are 28 replacement trees not accounted for on the plan.  These may be donated to the Township parks or a monetary contribution for trees made to the Township.

 

5.  OLD/NEW BUSINESS - Glenn Myster, a certified arborist, discussed guidelines for pruning young trees.  STAC set a date for a tree walk in Pointe North and Macada North parks on October 7th at 4:30 pm to select trees to be pruned for health and structure. Glenn Myster will accompany STAC members to help with evaluations.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.  Next meeting is October 25, 2004, at 6:30 p.m.
